1920 US Census of Paul Untiedt Sr. & his father, Henry Untiedt

In case some of the readers haven't been on Ancestry, thought I'd post this 1920 US Census that shows all the surviving children of Paul Christian Sophius Untiedt Sr. and Emma Anna Schwager. It also shows Paul's father, Henry Untiedt, with Henry's second wife, Catherine.

Marriage record of my great-grandparents Untiedt

My youngest, Emma, carries her name from my great-grandmother Untiedt, born Emma Anna Schwager. I had wanted to name her "Emma Anja", but lost that battle.

Check out here the marriage record of Emma Anna Schwager and Paul Christian Sophius Untiedt in 1899. Right click on the image to save a copy for your personal records, or to zoom in for a better inspection.

2 parents —-> 128 5th great grandparents

I’ve found that my family history journey seems like it will never have an end especially in this world of digital data, the records and connections just endlessly pour in. Anyone who has done a genetic DNA test and seen the long list of 4th and 5th cousins with completely new names knows it gets complicated quickly.

Someone posted today in a genealogy forum that you need to keep in mind that each person has 128 5th great grandparents! 128!

Despite being a number’s person, I never did the math. No wonder this adventure and research seems endless. 128!

I know all 8 of my great grandparents and all 16 of my 2nd great grandparents. But some of my maternal 3rd greats still allude me. My oldest known ancestor is my 7th great grandfather Peter Untiedt who lived in the 1600s, but now I know I’ll likely never know all 512 of my 7th great grandparents.

Guess I need to think about what I really want to know: what’s the question I’m seeking the answer to?

Maynard Morud's 1950 US Census

It's a faint copy and wrongly filed under Mayard B Morud. It was taken at Fort Riley, Kansas when Maynard was only 19 years old. I thought it was a great and unique find. Also, I found the 1950 US Census for Berger & Tillie along with all the children except for my grandmother Delores. If you want a copy, please send me a message.

It also made me think that since Maynard is the last of his generation, it would be very valuable to capture his DNA, if it hasn't been captured already. If there is someone interested, I would be happy to cover the cost of a DNA test, if someone is going to visit him and can walk through getting it sent out. It's usually just a matter of spitting in to a tube. If you are interested, please let me know.

Unknown subjects from the Howard Untiedt archives

I inherited the images below from my Uncle Howard's photographs after he passed away in 1999. Other than Howard (Howie), I have no additional information on who is in these pictures or context regarding where and when they were taken. Maybe you hold the key?

Please reply in the Comments section below, or send me an email at msonewaybaja@aol.com if you believe you can identify these subjects.

Picture #1, Guy holding Mountain Dew can

Picture #2, Group of 4

My gut is saying that the gentleman on the far right is Hal, a former neighbor, but I could be completely wrong.

Picture #3, Finish Line

Looks like this was an event that happened the same day as the picture above. Ladies are the same in both pics.
