Postmasters of Rock County

The National Archives keeps a record of each U.S. Postmaster's Appointment. The below record shows Paul C.S. Untiedt, Sr.'s (my great-grandfather) 1899 appointment as Postmaster for Kanaranzi, Minnesota; this legacy then led to the future appointment of two of his daughters, Harriet & Marcella (also included in the document below).

Additionally, the following document shows Postmaster's Appointment for Luverne, Minnesota where Paul Sr.'s grandson, Wayne Untiedt took charge in 1965. A long history of ensuring "neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds".

I'm certain all would be baffled to learn that one of Paul's descendants was absolutely fascinated this week to learn about the "envelope" and it's amazing "self-sticking technology" after becoming moist. And I'm sure that same descendant would befuddle them with the speed and nuisances of social media and today's technology for sharing the moments of our lives.
